EAR CLEANING

If you have more than one pup you will often find them cleaning each others ears. That makes your job not only easy, it almost makes you obsolete when it comes to Ear Cleaning.

If however, you only have one pup you can’t get off the hook when it comes to cleaning your pup’s ears. Why? Because you can prevent ear infections by keeping your pup’s ears clean.

This video is a great 1 minute show and tell about Ear Cleaning the proper way.

You should check pup’s ears for excess wax, dark specks or bad odors. All can indicate a medical condition that requires vet treatment. How often should you conduct these checks? Once every week or two is a good interval.

First, wipe the inside of the ears with a cotton ball moistened with a liquid ear cleaner. Be careful not to go farther than you can see; you’re not digging for gold ….. you’re Ear Cleaning.

Hold up the ear flap with your left hand, wrap the moistened cotton ball around the index finger of your right hand, and wipe out all the folds and crevices. Wipe gently, but be thorough. Change cotton balls as needed.

Most dog pups react to ear cleaning by shaking their heads, whining or whimpering. This is normal, and the pup must become used to the feeling of you cleaning its ears.

Minor warning here; step back before you let pup shake its head or you’ll have ear cleaner and ear dirt all over you!

Sure hope this was a help to you and good luck with your pup.
